Summary

Lighten stores the family notes, tasks, events and lists you enter so that they can be shared with the household members you invite. We do not sell your data, we do not show ads, and we do not use your content to train AI models.

What we collect

• Anonymous account identifier. When you first open Lighten we create an anonymous account (a random ID) with Firebase Authentication so your data can sync between your devices and your household. No email, phone number or password is required.
• Content you enter. Your display name, household name, the names of people you add (for example your children), the notes you type or dictate, and the tasks, events, reminders and lists Lighten creates from them.
• Device information. Platform (iOS or Android) and app version, used for troubleshooting.

We do not collect precise location, contacts, photos, health data or advertising identifiers.

How we use it

• To store and sync your household's plan between the members of your household in real time.
• To turn the text you enter into structured items. The text of each note, together with today's date and the names of the people and members in your household, is sent to Google's Gemini model through Firebase AI Logic for processing. Google processes this data under its Firebase data processing terms and does not use it to train models.
• To schedule reminders on your device. Notifications are generated locally on your phone.

Voice dictation

If you use the microphone button, speech is transcribed by your device's built-in speech recognition (Apple Speech on iOS, Google speech services on Android) under those providers' terms. Lighten receives only the resulting text.

Where data is stored

Data is stored in Google Cloud Firestore (Firebase) in the United States. Access is restricted by security rules so that only signed-in members of a household can read or write that household's data.

Sharing

Your household's content is visible to every member who joins with your invite code. Keep your invite code private. We do not share your data with third parties except the service providers above (Google Firebase), and we never sell it.

Children

Lighten is intended for parents and adults. You may enter your children's first names to organize their activities; we do not knowingly collect information directly from children under 13.

Retention and deletion

Your data is kept while your household exists. You can delete any item in the app. To delete your account and all household data, email support@2pensmedia.com from within the app's Family tab and we will remove it within 30 days.
